Maths Course for Parents
Do you have a child aged 5-10 years old? Would you like to help them with their maths but are lacking in confidence? Perhaps you didn't enjoy maths yourself when you were at school, and want to avoid passing on those negative feelings to your child. Perhaps you are home schooling your child and need some guidance.
Our new four-week course for parents could be just what you need! We aim to
- Improve your maths skills and boost your confidence to teach your child
- Help you to lay down good foundations for your child so that he/she can excel in maths
- Cover the four basic ops (+, -, ×, ÷) and discuss good techniques to teach young children
- Discuss good approaches to learning times tables
- Cover fractions, decimals and percentages
- Explore good uses of algebra at the primary school level
- Identify real-world applications and problem solving opportunities
The course will be delivered by Dr Audrey Tan. She will use methods taught by her own parents, as well as methods she has developed in recent years.
We will restrict the number of people attending at one time so that plenty of individual attention will be given. There will be time for you to practise some maths (the best way to learn!), to ask questions, and to share ideas on how best to help your own children.
The course is structured as four two-hour sessions. Please enquire for the next available course.
